I have been in the Wine Trade since 1978, variously as an importer, retailer and fine wine buyer.
Many of the wines and producers now recognised as classics were pioneered by me. The list includes Domaine Ponsot, Henri Jayer and Chateau Le Pin.
Indeed in 1983,I bought, on tasting 33 cases of 12 of the unknown Pomerol Chateau Le Pin and sold them to my clients at £133 per case.
If you could find this rare beast now the price would be in excess of £50,000.
Similarly,I spotted the potential of another Pomerol which had undergone a metamorphosis with the 1989 vintage and bought and
sold 100 cases of Chateau Clinet. This now sells at a multiple of 60 times the selling price.
I have a knack of recognising quality,and trends before they become trends, which aids in successfully selling fine wines globally.
Indeed we operate in such diverse markets as USA Hong Kong France Germany and of course the United Kingdom>/p>
Although I trade in all fine wines and champagnes, I have a particular bent towards Burgundies, Champagnes, Italian classics and all wines in larger formats.
Older vintages are also a speciality and I have bought and sold countless wines from the 19th century.
